TRAINING COURSES AVAILABLE

We can train you in basic computer concepts and to use the most common office programs. These include:

  • Word processing (for typing documents)
  • Internet and e-mail
  • File management
  • Spreadsheets (for numerical calculations and to produce charts)
  • Databases (for storing and retrieving information such as client’s details)
  • Presentations (give a visual display during a presentation)

We will place you on one of two courses depending on your computer knowledge. Both courses will lead to you gaining a widely recognised IT qualification. The courses are:

  • New CLAIT (Computer Literacy and Information Technology) - administered by OCR (Cambridge/RSA) – for people with little or no experience of using a computer. Visit www.ocrclait.org.uk for more information on this course.
  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL) – administered by the British Computer Society in the UK – for regular users of a computer. Depending on the speed at which you work you can either obtain the ECDL Start Certificate (any 4 modules of the ECDL) or the full ECDL Certificate. Even if you have some knowledge of the programs covered you will learn many new computer skills doing this course. Visit www.ecdl.co.uk for more information on this course.

As they are modular the full courses need not be completed during training with our tutors. Provided you have covered set modules you will receive recognised accreditation for this. You could at a later stage resume the course, through any of hundreds of training and assessing organisations throughout the UK (throughout Europe with the ECDL), although there will probably be a fee attached.
